i just picked up my taiwanese counterpart...and no prizes for guessing how he is like.

(expect the worst lah. like duh?)

although moe officials claim to match counterparts according to their shared interests, my taiwanese counterpart is a cheerleader who has been retained for one year. his hairstyle is similar to miaoqin's, only much longer (and he is a guy?!).

(think miaoqin who has not went to the hairdresser for a year)

(i think moe anyhow match ppl one, but mebbe what one puts down as interests is very deceiving. i listed mine as listening to music (of cos i do not mean the type who goes around screaming at chinese pop concerts) and somehow moe related it to cheerleading. assuming that they really did assign partners according to their interests that is.)

however, this is not to say that the guy is not nice. i mean, you are in a foreign place alone. worse, you are a guest at someone's house?! no matter how badboy you are (not implying that he is a badboy, his teacher informed me that he is very wen1 rou2 under his unkempt appearance), you will surely exercise much restraint and act polite as far as possible. for this reason, mutual differences are swept under the carpet briefly, but they are surfacing and i dont know how long i can put up with this. hopefully, i will be able to find enough 'standard conversation topics' (e.g. education system, family background, personal interests) to kill 11 days of time.

and if i am unable to, then i will have to rely on my parents' enthuness. the last time the other taiwanese came to stay at my house after the weekend, i left my parents to take care of her the entire sunday while i did some work myself.

(and in day 1 of the exchange programme, my parents are ALREADY dominating)

it is still too early to say if i have made a mistake though. lets see what transpires in the next few days.

i wont be going for the debates thingy because i need to pick up a taiwanese for the exchange programme.

speaking of which, he will be following me around for the next two weeks, and that means two things.

1. i probably will not be with the clz so often because i have an extra person to entertain.

2. because i still need some space for myself, try to entertain him if you see him ard so that the burden of keeping him occupied in school does not fall squarely on my shoulders.

unless of cos he turns out to be one highly interesting/complex/intelligent being that is really worth knowing (in which case you should be interested in interacting with him as well). but experience has taught me to prepare for the worst.

one more thing. i will be bringing my camera to school for the next two weeks. hopefully i will be in the mood to snap some pics to spruce up this blog.

(but experience has taught me not to hope...)

i think i owe the class an explanation for what happened today during frisbee. sorry for cutting short the frisbee session. i hope i wasn't the cause of that.
what happened was that i got frustrated with the class about something that i normally wouldn't be bothered about, or affected by. and it's no excuse for me to voice it out because it's a really petty reason, and i'd seem to be over-reacting if i'd brought it up.
so sorry for making all of you worry and tiptoe around me, not knowing what to do. i avoided people because i didn't want to be asked about what was wrong; i just couldn't voice it out because i was quite upset. but now i'm not anymore=)

Seven things the class blog has made me realize:

1) Zichong's name is spelt Zi Chong (not that i didn't know), and that everyone else, including zichong, does it. So i am wrong. Hello Zichong.

2) Chemistry is the subject most updated on the class blog.

3) I am very glad I dont take chemistry.

4) Tagboards here are useless (for most part of the time), because the blog works in tag-style.

5) Sixoh members are generally lazy, because pervasive use of colour began only when Junyi hooked us up with this convenient colour thingamagic.

ohhh yes thank you junyi! the colour config is really cool! :) you're a genius haha. eh the class photo can wait till everybody's back? oh ya meanwhile, the class tshirt, I wanna poll you guys:

we've thought of a maroon polo tshirt (since quite a lot of ppl like polo tees) with white or pale yellow letterings. any objections to that? or other suggestions?

also, regarding the design:
1. have a simple logo of our class in front down one side (e.g. chi calligraphy writing of 06S60 spelt in chinese with a "stamp" below that says "06S60" in numerals -- Charm's brilliant idea).

2. have the logo in front just as in the previous design, but at the back of the shirt, have a manga-style drawing of everyone in class (not stupid little heads in rows and columns, but like in normal group photos, in diff poses and interacting). Xin Xue does brilliant beautiful manga-style drawings! Sara too!

so what are your opinions? or any other suggestions? do say / post on blog, cos it's best to have the class tee done as early as possible, yes?

and...germany argentina was frankly boring. apparently, it was so boring that at least two people in our class spent time admiring jersies instead.

for those who want to watch superman returns. heed my advice and dont watch it, unless you are a huge superman fan and just want to know how the plot unfolds (in which case u will still not get your money's worth)

but my trusted friend says that scary movie 4 is worse still. :S

last night was the first time i watched this year world cup match and just like zi chong said, it was really interesting!!! well, at first i didnt take anyone's side...then, after argent scored, i felt real bad for germany as they're the host... and glad that i take ger's side...coz they won!!! hahahaha... i like their uniform better too... ;P
